Dr Chantal Esnault offers a range of short and long term evidence-based psychological (‘talk’) therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness, insight-oriented therapy, supportive therapy, grief therapy and couples therapy. She also welcomes significant others to join sessions where deemed helpful. 


Chantal understands the importance of safe, effective medication management, if needed, throughout the reproductive years. She has extensive experience in managing medication in pregnancy and breast feeding and carefully assessing the risk versus benefit to both mother and child. 

Preconception & Pregnancy

  • Medication reviews related to pregnancy

  • Assessment and management of a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and adjustment difficulties

  • Support during complex & high risk pregnancies

  • Secondary consultation for General Adult Psychiatrists who are managing women with more complex mental health disorders

Parenting Support

  • Support around your child’s emotional regulation, sleep, behaviour, and navigating various developmental stages

  • Support to foster strong parent-child relationships to promote resilience

  • Exploration of how your own early experiences may shape your parenting style

  • Parenting support from newborns & toddlers to children & adolescents

Fertility & Loss

  • Assessment and management of a range of emotional and mental health issues related to the challenges of IVF and fertility treatment

  • Support through the stages of fertility treatment and associated anxiety and stress

  • Individual and couples grief counselling following miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss

Hormonal & Women’s Health

  • Mental health support and management for PMS & PMDD

  • Hormonal contraception advice around the potential impact on your mental health

  • Mental health support for conditions such as endometriosis & chronic pelvic pain

Postnatal

  • Assessment and management of a range of mental health issues including  postnatal depression, anxiety & adjustment difficulties in women & men

  • Counselling for birth trauma

  • Support of bonding (attachment) difficulties between parent and child

  • Transition to parenting support

Perimenopause & Menopause

  • Mental health assessment and management of mood changes, depression, anxiety, and emotional shifts in perimenopause and menopause

  • Talking therapy related to identity, life transitions, and resilience building

Dr Chantal Esnault also has a special interest in Type 1 Diabetes

•    Mental health support managing Type 1 diabetes in pregnancy, breast feeding and early parenting
•    Psychological support for adults adjusting to a new diagnosis for themselves or loved ones
•    Support and management of depression, anxiety and grief that may impact glycaemic control
•    Psychological support for diabetic burn out and disordered eating 

With her own lived experience and mental health expertise, Chantal is in a position to understand the complexities of managing your condition as well as the mental health load and challenges that can present themselves.
